Audra Mcdonald stands out in the range of her talents and her versatility as an actor and singer. In 2015, she was awarded an unprecedented 6 Tony Awards as well as two Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards. The actress also broke the record for the winning the most Tony Awards by an actor. McDonald has also appeared in The Secret Garden (1993), Marie Christine (1999), Henry IV (2004) and 110 in The Shade (2007 Twelfth night (2009) and Shuffle Along the Making of the Musical Shock of 1921 and Everything That Followed (2016). She also made her Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut in Twelfth night (2009). McDonald first appeared on television as a dramatic actor on her role on the Peabody Award winner CBS series Having Our Say - The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years. Then, in 1999 she co-starred with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber on the Disney/ABC television version of Annie. And in 2000, she was a recurring on NBC's popular series Law & Order Special Victims Unit. The following year, she received her debut Emmy nomination in recognition of her performance on the HBO film version of the Pulitzer Prize-winning show Wit, directed by Mike Nichols and starring Emma Thompson McDonald returned to television networks in 2003 in the political drama Mister Sterling, produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. and with Josh Brolin. She joined The Bedford Diaries on the WB series The Bedford Diaries in early the year 2006. In the following season, she starred as a recurring character on NBC's television show Kidnapped. McDonald received a fourth Emmy nomination in recognition of her part in HBO's film special of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill in 2016. The Bite is a drama with six episodes based on the pandemic that was co-produced by Spectrum Originals & CBS Studios. McDonald starred with Taylor Schilling & Steven Pasquale. In 2009, she played U.S. Attorney Liz Lawrence on CBS's legal drama The Good Wife. In the year 2018, McDonald returned to her role as Liz Reddick as a regular on Paramount+'s The Good Fight. She received three Critics Choice Award nods for her performance. The actress is currently a guest in Julian Fellowes's period drama The Gilded Age.
