Belknap is born in Damariscotta Maine. The parents of her are David Belknap and Louise Belknap. She went to Lincoln Academy at Newcastle Maine. When she was at Middlebury College in Vermont she began to develop an interest in performing. She then studied at the American Conservatory Theater earning a Master of Fine Arts degree. Belknap's television credits include series regular roles in Medical Investigation (related to ER and Third Watch) and The Handler and a frequent part in Deadline as well as guest-starring parts on Law & Order Law & Special Victims Unit as well as Without a Trace.
