Amanda Tapping (born in London, England) is a British Canadian actor and director. Samantha Carter is her best-known role in the Canadian as well as the American science fiction TV series Stargate SG-1 Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe. Tapping has been married for more than a decade to Alan Kovacs. They live together in Vancouver British Columbia.
